Federal Bureau of Investigation - Washington Metropolitan Field Office:

Mr. Meacham served as Associate Partner in Charge of Design for SOM for this secure federal office building. The structure included " structurally altered space" to accommodate a SCIF for secure communications.  Part of the mission of the Washington Metropolitan Field Office is counterterrorism in cooperation with a 'sister agency."

The building is located on the perimeter of historically significant Judiciary Square in Washington, DC. As such, the design for the building was reviewed and approved by the U.S. Commission of Fine Arts, The National Capital Planning Commission and the D.C. Historic Preservation Review Board.

The building comprises 350,000 square feet above grade and provides parking for 400 cars below grade. Exterior cladding includes granite and architectural precast concrete.  Antennae required for extensive communications program were incorporated on the roofscape as a design element.
